Common Questions

- Can I transfer photos and messages to a new watch?
- What happens if my old watch is broken?
- Can I restore data from T-Cloud?
- Why did my data sync fail?
TickTalk Data Sync allows you to transfer your child's data from one TickTalk watch to another. Depending on your situation, you can either sync directly between two working watches or restore data from a T-Cloud backup.
What Transfers?
The following data can be transferred to a new watch:
- Photos
- Videos
- Messages
- eGreeting Cards
- Contacts
- Reminders
- Watch Settings
- Child Profile Information
If your old watch is broken, missing, or cannot power on, photos, videos, and message history can only be restored if a T-Cloud backup exists.
Contacts, reminders, settings, and profile information may still be recoverable even if the old watch is unavailable.
Method 1: Direct Watch-to-Watch Sync
Use this method when both watches are available and working.
Before You Start
- Connect both watches to Wi-Fi.
- Update both watches to the latest tOS version.
- Place both watches within 3 feet of each other.
- Make sure Airplane Mode is turned off.
- Charge both watches to at least 50%.
- Have the Admin user available to approve the transfer.
Start the Transfer
- On both watches, open Settings > Data Sync.
- On the old watch, select Send this watch's data to another watch.
- On the new watch, select Sync data from another watch to this watch.
- The Admin user will receive a push notification in the TickTalk App.
- Approve the request.
- The transfer will begin automatically and progress will appear on both watches.
Method 2: Restore from T-Cloud
Use this method if the old watch is broken, lost, or unavailable.
Step 1: Create a Backup (If Possible)
On the old watch: Settings > Backup
If the watch will not power on, skip this step.
Step 2: Set Up the New Watch
- Insert the SIM card into the new watch.
- Connect the watch to Wi-Fi.
- Open the TickTalk App.
- Tap your child's profile icon.
- Select Add Another Watch.
Step 3: Restore the Backup
- Complete the pairing process.
- When prompted, select your previous watch.
- Tap Yes to restore the T-Cloud backup.
- Leave the watch powered on and keep the TickTalk App open until the transfer completes.
Sync Not Working?
If the transfer fails:
- Confirm both watches are connected to Wi-Fi.
- Turn off Airplane Mode.
- Keep the watches within 3 feet of each other.
- Update both watches to the latest tOS version.
- Confirm both watches have at least 50% battery.
- Verify the Admin user approved the sync request.
- Restart both watches and try again.
