Symptoms
You may see one or more of the following:
- "Missing SIM"
- "No SIM Card"
- "SIM Not Detected"
- No cellular signal
- Unable to make or receive calls
- Unable to send messages using cellular service
Common Causes
The most common causes include:
- SIM card not installed correctly
- SIM Lid Protector loose or missing
- SIM card missing from the watch
- SIM card not activated
- Airplane Mode enabled
- Poor cellular coverage
- SIM card damaged during installation
Step 1: Confirm Which Version You Purchased
AT&T and T-Mobile versions of TickTalk 5 include a pre-installed SIM card.
If you purchased the No SIM version, you'll need to install and activate your own compatible SIM card.
Step 2: Verify the SIM Card Is Installed
Open the SIM compartment using the included TickTalk tools.
Confirm that:
- A SIM card is present
- The SIM card is seated properly
- The SIM card has not shifted out of place
If the SIM card is missing, contact TickTalk Support with your order number.
Step 3: Reinstall the SIM Card
- Power off the watch.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Reinsert the SIM card with the chip facing down.
- Securely close the SIM compartment.
- Reinstall the SIM Lid Protector if applicable.
Step 4: Restart the Watch
- Power off the watch.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Power the watch back on.
After the watch restarts, check whether the SIM is detected.
Step 5: Confirm the SIM Is Activated
If you're using TickTalk Wireless, make sure the SIM has been activated.
Activation Portal: activate.myticktalk.com
If you're using your own carrier, verify that the SIM is active and supports voice, text, and data service.
Step 6: Check Signal and Airplane Mode
Confirm that:
- Airplane Mode is turned off
- Cellular service is available in your area
- The watch has adequate signal coverage
Step 7: Reset the Watch
If the issue continues:
Settings > Reset
After the reset is complete, check whether the watch detects the SIM card.
