Common Questions
Why isn't my TickTalk receiving messages from an iPhone?
Why do iPhone texts show as delivered but never arrive on the watch?
What do blue and green message bubbles mean?
How do I stop iMessage from blocking texts to TickTalk?
Why can my iPhone send messages to everyone except my TickTalk watch?
If your iPhone shows a message as delivered but your TickTalk watch never receives it, Apple may be sending the message through iMessage instead of SMS.
TickTalk watches can receive standard SMS text messages but cannot receive iMessages.
How to Tell if This Is the Problem
On an iPhone:
· Blue message bubbles = iMessage
· Green message bubbles = SMS text messages
If messages to the TickTalk watch appear as blue bubbles, the watch will not receive them.
Quick Fix: Resend as SMS
1. On your iPhone, press and hold the blue message.
2. Tap Send as Text Message.
3. Confirm the message changes to a green bubble.
4. Check whether the message arrives on the watch.
Temporary Fix: Turn Off iMessage
1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap Messages.
3. Turn iMessage off.
4. Send a test message to the watch.
5. Turn iMessage back on if desired.
Permanent Fix: Deregister the Watch Number from iMessage
This is the most common solution when iPhone messages consistently fail to reach a TickTalk watch.
Because TickTalk phone numbers come from a recycled number pool, the watch number may still be associated with a previous iPhone user's iMessage account.
Before starting, make sure the watch is online and able to receive text messages.
Step 1: Temporarily Disable Block Unknown Numbers
1. Open the TickTalk Parent App.
2. Go to Parent Portal.
3. Select Enable Watch Features.
4. Turn Block Unknown Numbers off.
This allows the watch to receive Apple's verification text message during the deregistration process.
Step 2: Deregister the Number from iMessage
1. Visit: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage
2. Enter the TickTalk watch phone number.
3. Apple will send a verification code to the watch.
4. Enter the verification code on Apple's website.
5. Complete the deregistration process.
Step 3: Re-Enable Block Unknown Numbers
After the deregistration process is complete:
1. Open the TickTalk Parent App.
2. Go to Parent Portal.
3. Select Enable Watch Features.
4. Turn Block Unknown Numbers back on.
We recommend keeping this feature enabled to help block unwanted calls and messages from unknown numbers.
Still Can't Send Messages?
If the watch still isn't receiving messages:
· Confirm the watch is online.
· Verify the contact is approved.
· Make sure Do Not Disturb (DND) is not enabled.
· Restart the watch and try again.
