TickTalk 6 gives parents full control over who can communicate with their child.
Children cannot freely communicate with unknown people. Parents remain in control of contact approvals, friend requests, and communication permissions.
How Friend Approval Works
When someone wants to communicate with your child through TickTalk:
- They must have a TickTalk watch or the TickTalk App.
- A friend request is sent.
- The parent or Primary User receives the request.
- The parent decides whether to approve or deny it.
Your child cannot communicate with unapproved contacts.
Add Friends Feature
TickTalk includes an Add Friends feature that allows children to connect with other approved TickTalk users. Parents maintain visibility and control over these connections. You'll receive notifications when new friend requests are submitted.
Can I Turn Off Add Friends?
Yes.
If you'd prefer your child not use the Add Friends feature, you can disable it from the TickTalk App. This prevents your child from adding new TickTalk friends through the watch.
How TickTalk Helps Protect Children
TickTalk includes several safety features designed to reduce unwanted communication:
- Parent-approved contacts
- Friend request approval
- Block Unknown Numbers
- Parent notifications
- Primary User-controlled communication settings
Troubleshooting: Two Watches Can't Add Each Other as Friends
If two children's watches are unable to add each other:
- Make sure Add Friends is enabled for both watches in the TickTalk App.
- Make sure both watches have a working internet connection and are online.
- On both watches, go to Settings > Pair and confirm that the TTID is displayed.
- When using Add Friends Nearby, keep the two watches close together while pairing.
- When using Add Friends With TTID in the app, verify that the TTID was entered correctly.
Trouble finding multiple nearby friends at once? If one friend appears first, keep that watch on the Add Friends screen while the other watch continues searching until the next friend appears.
