How Do Shortcut Dial Icons Work on TickTalk 5?
Shortcut Dial Icons allow your child to quickly call trusted adults directly from the watch home screen with a single tap.
These contacts can be parents, guardians, grandparents, caregivers, or any other approved family member. The contacts assigned to Shortcut Dial Icons can be customized at any time.
What Are Shortcut Dial Icons?
The first two Shortcut Dial contacts appear as icons on the watch home screen.
Your child can tap these icons to quickly place a call without opening Contacts or the Phone Book.
How to Set Up Shortcut Dial Icons
- Open the TickTalk App.
- Go to Parent Portal > Contacts.
- The first two contact slots are reserved for Shortcut Dial Icons.
- Select a contact slot.
- Enter:
- Contact name
- Phone number
- Profile photo or Icon avatar
- Tap Save.
Once the watch is online, the updated contact information will automatically sync to the watch.
Important: The watch must be online using either an active cellular connection or Wi-Fi in order to receive updates from the app.
Choosing a Shortcut Dial Icon
Each Shortcut Dial contact can be assigned a custom icon that appears directly on the watch home screen.
This allows children to quickly identify and call their most important contacts with a single tap.
Common examples include:
- Parent
- Guardian
- Grandparent
- Caregiver
- Family Member
The selected icon will be displayed on the watch home screen and can be changed at any time from the TickTalk App.
Can I Use Only One Shortcut Dial Icon?
Yes.
You may configure one or both Shortcut Dial contacts based on your family's needs.
How Do Shortcut Dial Icons Work with Emergency SOS?
Shortcut Dial contacts also serve as backup emergency contacts.
When Emergency SOS is activated:
- The watch first calls the designated Emergency SOS Contact.
- If the Emergency SOS Contact does not answer, the watch automatically attempts to call the first Shortcut Dial contact.
- If there is still no answer, the watch automatically attempts to call the second Shortcut Dial contact.
For this reason, we recommend assigning trusted adults who can be reached quickly in an emergency.
Can I Change or Remove Shortcut Dial Contacts?
Yes.
You can update or replace Shortcut Dial contacts at any time by returning to:
TickTalk App > Parent Portal > Contacts
Any changes will automatically sync to the watch once it is online.
