Common Questions
- How do I transfer data from my previous TickTalk watch?
- Can I restore a T-Cloud backup to a replacement watch?
- What happens when my new watch inherits my previous watch's TTID?
- Will my old watch be unpaired?
- Can I use my old watch again?
- Do I need my old watch to restore data?
When pairing a replacement TickTalk watch, you can choose to inherit your previous watch's TTID. This allows information such as contacts to sync to the replacement watch. Available T-Cloud backups can also be restored to the new watch.
Inheriting the previous watch's TTID automatically unpairs the old watch. The old watch can be paired again separately.
How to Transfer Data During Setup
- Open the TickTalk App and log in to the account linked to your previous watch.
- Begin pairing your replacement watch.
- When prompted to use a previous watch's account or TTID, select the watch you want to transfer from.
- If multiple watches are listed, carefully check that you selected the correct one.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing and sync the available information.
- Follow the T-Cloud restore prompts to restore an available backup.
After setup, check the replacement watch's contacts, settings, and restored content.
What Happens to My Old Watch?
When the replacement watch inherits the old watch's TTID:
- The old watch is automatically unpaired.
- Information such as contacts syncs to the replacement watch.
- Available cloud backup information can also be restored to the replacement watch.
The old watch is left in an unpaired state. It is not permanently disabled and can be paired again through the normal setup process.
What Data Can Be Restored?
Contacts and other account information can sync to the replacement watch. Additional data and settings can be restored if they are included in an available T-Cloud backup.
The restored content depends on what was successfully backed up. Do not assume that every item on the old watch will be transferred.
If your old watch still works, complete a T-Cloud backup before transferring to help preserve the latest available data.
Do I Need My Old Watch?
You do not need the old watch to be working to restore an existing T-Cloud backup.
If the old watch is lost, damaged, or will not turn on, you can still restore the backup available for that watch.
However, data that was only stored on the old watch and was never backed up cannot be recovered through T-Cloud.
Does This Also Transfer My Wireless Plan?
Data restoration and wireless service transfer are separate steps.
If you are moving an existing TickTalk Wireless plan from TickTalk 4 or TickTalk 5 to TickTalk 6, use My Services > Transfer Plan in the TickTalk App.
Inheriting a TTID or restoring a T-Cloud backup does not by itself confirm that cellular service is active on the replacement watch.
