If you cannot transfer photos or videos from your TickTalk 6 to your phone using Watch Photos & Videos in the TickTalk App, follow the relevant troubleshooting steps below.
Before You Start
Make sure the watch:
- Has at least 50% battery.
- Is disconnected from its charger.
- Is not in Focus Mode (DND).
- Is running the latest available watch software.
- Is not displaying a high-temperature warning.
During transfer, your phone must connect to the temporary hotspot created by the watch. Connecting your phone to your home Wi-Fi alone does not complete this step.
If You Cannot Find the Watch Hotspot
- Start the connection process in Watch Photos & Videos in the TickTalk App.
- As soon as the app prompts you to connect, open your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
- Look for the TickTalk Wi-Fi name shown during setup.
- Wait several dozen seconds if needed. The watch's hotspot may take time to appear.
- If it still does not appear, turn your phone's Wi-Fi off and back on to refresh the list.
- If you have connected to the watch before, check My Devices or the saved networks section. The section name may vary by phone.
Once the hotspot appears, select it and complete the connection.
If Your Phone Cannot Connect or Shows “Connection Required”
If you see “Your phone is not connected to Wi-Fi” or the transfer stays on “Connection Required”:
- Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the TickTalk hotspot shown during setup.
- Enter the 8-digit connection code displayed on the watch when prompted.
- Return to the TickTalk App and continue the transfer.
Opening your phone's Wi-Fi settings is part of the connection process. Avoid canceling setup or returning to the previous page within the TickTalk App before completing the hotspot connection.
If you already backed out and now see an unknown error, follow the steps below.
If You See an “Unknown Error”
An unknown error may occur if you:
- Open Watch Photos & Videos and tap Join.
- See the watch's hotspot name but do not connect your phone to it.
- Return to the previous page within the app before completing the connection.
Leaving at this stage can automatically disconnect the watch from Wi-Fi. The next attempt to use Watch Photos & Videos may then show an unknown error.
How to Fix It
- On the watch, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Manually turn Wi-Fi back on if it is off.
- Reconnect the watch to an available Wi-Fi network.
- Reopen Watch Photos & Videos in the TickTalk App.
- Tap Join, then promptly open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the watch's hotspot.
- Return to the app and continue.
Restore the watch's Wi-Fi connection before retrying. This also helps restore other features that need that connection after an interrupted setup.
Other Messages That May Prevent a Transfer
“The watch is charging. Please try again later.”
Remove the watch from its charger, then try again.
“The watch is in DND Focus Mode. Please try again later.”
Turn off Focus Mode (DND) on the watch, then restart the transfer.
“The watch battery is low.”
Charge the watch to at least 50%, then disconnect it from the charger before starting the transfer.
“The watch needs to be updated to the latest firmware.”
Connect the watch to Wi-Fi and go to:
Settings > OS Update
Install any available update, then try again.
“The watch temperature is too high. Please try again later.”
Stop the transfer attempt and allow the watch to cool down before retrying.
If the Transfer Stops or Appears Stuck
Keep your phone connected to the watch's hotspot and remain on the transfer screen until the transfer finishes.
If you see “If you exit now, the transfer will stop,” stay on the screen to continue.
If the transfer has stopped:
- Check whether your phone is still connected to the watch's hotspot.
- If it disconnected, reconnect and follow the app's prompts to retry.
- If you exited setup or now see an unknown error, restore the watch's Wi-Fi connection using the steps in “If You See an ‘Unknown Error’” before starting again.
